Lind Butler, LPC
Group Therapy creates a microscopic version of our social world. You can benefit from talking with others who are going through the same types of experiences, finding that you are not alone. By seeing how others handle similar problems and viewing a variety of perspectives on what seems to work and when, you can learn new methods of coping.
Groups act as “functional families”, offering feedback in a constructive and supportive atmosphere on how words sound, what one’s body language is saying and how to say something in a kind, assertive, diplomatic way.
Group members support one another in learning and practicing more effective behaviors.
“Remember teamwork begins by building trust.
And the only way to do that is to overcome our need for invulnerability.”
